Apple has unveiled its latest flagship smartphones, the iphone 13 mini, iphone 13, iphone 13 pro, and iphone 13 pro max. In a nutshell, Apple has included many useful features like 120 hz display, an incredible camera, faster chip, bigger battery at the same price tag of iphone 12 and 12 pro.

Now, let's talk about what new changes apple has brought into its new iphone models,

 

 

 

 

1. Design

 

The Iphone 13 line up includes new colors and minor design changes. The design has changed in 3 means,

Color

There are two new colors in iPhones, one in each normal and pro models. The normal iphone 12 and 12 mini has a pink color and the pro model has a sierra blue color. So in total the iphone 13 mini and 13 comes in a total of 5 colors which are pink, blue, black, white, and  red & iphone 13 pro comes in 4 colors which are graphite, gold, silver, and blue.

Front Notch

The notch has now become 20 percent smaller, and it has less space for face ID and other sensors. Hence it gives more space for the screen, which is a nice-looking improvement.

Camera

The camera design has changed for iPhone 12 and 12 mini to a diagonal architecture by turning the lenses 45 degrees towards each side compared to vertical straight design.

Size & Weight

The weight & dimension has changed slighlty due to new redesign structure and a possible increased battery and internal architecture. Below is the size comparison of iphone 13 and 13 pro compared to the previous generation iphone 12.

2. Camera

 

Apple has highlighted its new camera system as the biggest upgrade for the iPhone 13. Let's split on how Apple has renovated their best cameras in the iPhone models.

 

Super-wide and macro

The  iphone 13 mini and the iphone 13 has got a bigger sensor than the previous generation iphone. This will bring around 47% more light into the sensors. 

With the macro lens on the ultra wide camera on the pro version, it can shoot the object as close as 2 cm. Now, the telephoto camera on the pro version also gets the night mode option and has a 3x optical zoom.

Sensor shift optical image stabilization

Apple has also included sensor shift optical image stabilization in iphone 12, which was introduced in last year's iphone 12 pro max only. sensor shift optical image stabilizes the camera's sensor instead of the lens for even greater image stabilization and improved photo quality.

Cinematic mode

Apple has introduced a  “cinematic mode” for video recording. While recording the video, the lens automatically changes its focus in real time when object enter the frame and not focussing while they are not . The cinematic mode is available for all iphone 13 models in both front and rear cameras. 

Apple ProRes

ProRes is a video codec developed by Apple that compresses the video without compremising image and color data, giving greater quality after post production edits. This is a technology that is used in film production, but is the first time seen in a smartphone.

Apple has limited ProRes in 4K resolution at 30fps only for variants above 256 GB, while the lesser storage pro models can shoot ProRes at a resolution of only 1080 at 30fps.

 

 

 

3. Display

 

Apple's Super Retina XDR display has improved greatly with the introduction of iphone 13 and iphone 13 pro, that gives a great advantage in terms of usability. Some of best features are,

Bigger & Brighter Display

The iphone 13 and the 13 pro gets a brighter display giving 800 and 1000 nits respectively. from the minimum brightness of same, it goes up to 1200 nits of peak brightness for HDR contents which gives extra 25% brightness. So you will have a clear visible display even in the direct sunlight. With the smaller notch, the display has become slightly bigger.

120Hz Refresh Rate

Apple has finally introduced a 120 Hz display in its lineup which is a great feature. The display takes adaptive refresh rate which starts from 10Hz to 120 Hz across different supported apps depending upon the speed of your fingerprint.

 

 

 

4. Storage

 

Apple has ditched its 64 GB to a base storage of 128 GB for all variants of its iPhones which is a great initiative from Apple. Apple has been largely criticized for keeping a less 64 GB as the base variant, which forced users  to go for the 256 or 512 GB variant.

Apple has also expanded its storage from 512 GB to 1 TB variant  for its Pro variants, making it the highest storage variant in an iphone. The non Pro variant supports upto 512 GB only.

 

 

5. Processor

 

Apple's A15 5nm Bionic chip is the most powerful chipset ever used in a smartphone. The Iphone pro consists of  6 core CPU, out of which 2 is a high performance core and 4 is an energy efficient core.

As in the case of GPU, the pro variant has a 5 core GPU and the normal variant has a 4 core GPU. The pro version gets an extra core GPU from its previous generation iphone. Apple says it can deliver a better performance of extra 30% from its competition.

 

 

6. Battery

 

Even though apple didn't mentioned its battery capacity, apple has said it will have better battery life in all its models and most users will experience a battery life as follows,

- 1.5 hours longer battery life on iPhone 13 mini compared to  iPhone 12 mini

- 5 hours longer battery life on iPhone 13 compared to iPhone 12

- 1.5 hours longer battery life on iPhone 13 Pro compared to iPhone 12 Pro

-  2.5 hours longer battery life on iPhone 13 Pro Max compared to iPhone 12 Pro Max

 

 

 

7. Price

 

Iphone 13 and 13 Pro models have a similar price tag as that of iPhone 12 and 12 pro except for the high end storage variant. The price tag of iphone 13 and 13 pro is as follows.
